There are so many times when I say, "I don't have enough time to...", fill in the blank. The reality is it is all about making time and focusing on my priorities. When I want something to happen, I make the time. If I don't prioritize it, then it must not be that important to me.
There are other things that I think are more important and that is why I'm making them the priority. For example, I find myself staying up late at night a lot lately. I'm finishing up my full-time job and I'm working on my business at night. That is my priority - building up EDIT L&D. What it means is that I'm not prioritizing getting up early every morning to workout.
While I know it is a short-term situation, it is still about making choices. I am choosing not to get up early. I am choosing to stay up late and work. As I've shared in the past, I do have some fitness and wellness goals. They are important to me. However, they are not as important as my goals for EDIT L&D. I've made a decision. It doesn't mean I like the decision or that I want to continue on this way for an extended period of time, but it does mean I need to acknowledge the choice I am making.
You are also making choices. Every day you decide what you will participate in. By making those choices, you are choosing not to do other things. Time is precious and finite. On a given day, you probably have a maximum of 3-4 hours to accomplish your personal goals if you work full-time. And that assumes you are not also bogged down by activities in the lives of your family members. That can further take up your time.
I encourage you to look at how you spend your time and be honest with yourself. Are you spending time on the things that matter to you? Or are you focused on things that will not help you to achieve your goals? Sometimes it is hard to say no. You can't change the past, but you can change your future. What do you need to be doing today to say yes to your goals?
